This route starts with neon and ends with red rock. Las Vegas is a loud, glittering first stop for shows, food and a late night out. From there you head into Utah's canyon country, first to Zion, with its steep walls and river canyon trails. Bryce Canyon comes next, with rows of orange rock spires, and the Bryce Amphitheater is the focus for sunrise views and short rim walks. Plan on early mornings in the parks and slow evenings after.

When to go
March through May is a good window, with pleasant temperatures in the lower canyons and fewer crowds than midsummer. Spring weather can be mixed, and higher areas like Bryce may still see cold nights or snow. Summer is hot at Zion and busy in all the parks.
Getting around
Fly into Las Vegas, rent a car and drive north into Utah. Distances between the parks are manageable for a short trip. Zion has a shuttle system for its main canyon during busy periods, so check current park information before you go.

- Treat Las Vegas as a short bookend. Get a good night's sleep before driving out, since the parks reward early starts.
- Plan Zion for a full day and check trail conditions first. Some famous hikes need advance planning or have seasonal limits.
