The Ozarks feel like a trip back into the hills, with each stop a little more wooded than the last. Springfield opens the route with Commercial Street cafes and a ride through Fantastic Caverns. Branson comes next, where Table Rock Lake coves and a walkable historic downtown balance out the town's busier reputation. Eureka Springs ends the journey in Arkansas, with Victorian streets climbing steep hills and Thorncrown Chapel standing quietly in the forest.
Good for Relaxed groups who like caves, lakes and small towns
April through October covers green hills, warm lake days and open caves and trails. Spring brings redbud and dogwood blooms plus cooler hiking, while summer is for the water. Early fall is quieter, with changing leaves. Winter is peaceful but some attractions reduce hours or close.
You will want a car here. The stops are linked by winding two-lane roads through hills and past lakes, and public transit is limited. Eureka Springs is the one place where parking once and walking pays off.
