Planning Amsterdam to Bruges by Rail.

Start in Amsterdam with the Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House and a canal-side drink at Café 't Smalle. Take the train to Brussels for the Grand-Place, the Magritte Museum and a beer at À la Mort Subite. Continue to Ghent to see the Ghent Altarpiece in St Bavo's Cathedral and the Gravensteen castle. End in Bruges with the Belfry, a canal boat ride and a brewery tour at De Halve Maan.

Good for Car-free travelers who want art, canals and beer culture across two countries.

When to go

April to June brings tulips around Amsterdam and long evenings; September is mild and quieter. Winter is cold and damp but has Christmas markets in all four cities.

Getting around
